They are looking for a Part-time (15 – 30 hours per week) Interior Design Drafter / Junior Designer to create detailed technical drawings and plans for residential interior spaces using CAD software to translate initial concepts into accurate blueprints for construction in our hybrid environment. Key responsibilities include collaborating with designers and architects, ensuring drawings meet industry standards and codes, and revising plans based on feedback. Essential skills include proficiency in CAD software like AutoCAD, Revit, and Sketchup, strong attention to detail, and a good understanding of interior design principles and practices.
Compensation for this role ranges between $35.60 per hour - $43.12 per hour.
Responsibilities

Create technical drawings: Measure spaces and generate detailed floor plans, elevations, and 3D models from sketches and specifications using CAD software.

Collaborate with design teams: Work closely with interior designers, architects, and other team members to translate design concepts into technical plans.

Ensure accuracy and compliance: Ensure all drawings are accurate and comply with building codes and industry standards.

Revise and update plans: Update drawings based on feedback from designers, clients, and project teams.

Manage project documentation: Organize and manage all drawing files and related project documentation.

Assist with presentations and office operations: Help prepare design presentations, project management materials, and project plans. Keep projects on track using task management software.
Skills and qualifications
- A degree in interior design, architecture, or a related field is required.
- 3 – 5 years of proven technical experience as an interior design drafter, kitchen design drafter, or architectural design drafter;
- Proven knowledge of CAD software, especially AutoCAD or ArchiCAD, Revit, SketechUp, BIM360, Photoshop, and furniture specification tools like CAP2020 or CET, a plus.
- Ability to display a good understanding of interior design knowledge, principles, and construction techniques, including the preparation of working plans, and the ability to work from sketches, notes, and verbal instructions to create detailed drawings.
- Ability to create detailed FFE documents for contractors, builders, and procurement experts.
- Proven ability to routinely perform drafting tasks, follow technical drawing and drafting standards, 3D modeling, create floor plans, understand FF&E components, and translate a designer’s concepts into precise, buildable plans, ensuring accuracy for contractors and builders.
- Proven attention to detail and meticulous accuracy in all drawings, plans, and supporting documentation.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a design team and communicate well with colleagues and clients.
- Ability to meet project deadlines and manage workloads efficiently.
- Ideal candidates will live within 30 minutes of Chevy Chase, MD.
